With reference to my despatch No. 331 of the 6th December and to your reply No. 15 of the 14th January last, I have the honour to submit for your approval the promotions and redistribution of salaries recommended in the enclosed copy of a memorandum by the Acting Postmaster General, to take effect from the 1st instant, the date of Mr Rocha's retirement on pension.
The proposed increases of salary will not involve any additional expenditure, and will tend to promote the efficiency of the Postal Staff.
(Lord Ampthill will not be here to-day).
